The Big Fix is a compelling documentary that delves into the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, revealing the environmental and political complexities surrounding the disaster.

 On Earth Day, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig sank, creating the worst oil spill in history. According to the global media, the story ended when the well was capped – but that’s when the real story began. By exposing the root causes of the oil spill and what happened after the news cameras left the Gulf states, filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell uncover a vast network of corruption.

The Big Fix is an enraged documentary film that exposes the crimes of big oil, especially BP, which has been accused of negligence and of taking shortcuts that resulted in the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig off the Louisiana coast in April 2010.

Eleven employees on the platform died, and millions of barrels of oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico over the following months, killing vast numbers of marine animals before a lot of it washed ashore, where it wrought incalculable damage. The most serious of the documentary’s assertions is that British Petroleum used tremendous amounts of Corexit, an oil dispersant whose toxic effects on the environment and human health are as dangerous, or worse, than exposure to oil. Even when BP agreed to cease using Corexit, the film insists it secretly continued to do so. The film presents ample, devastating proof suggesting that the air and the water in Louisiana have been contaminated.
