Allianz Insurance Singapore pioneers sustainable tyre recycling with ‘Recycle My Tyres’ initiative to transform automotive waste
Allianz Insurance Singapore has launched Recycle My Tyres, a first-of-its-kind recycling initiative by an insurer in Singapore, encouraging more sustainable tyre disposal practices and reducing automotive waste.
This programme, created in partnership with Singapore-based tyre recycler Global Enviro Technology, enables car owners to drop off used tyres at participating Allianz-authorised workshops. The tyres are then collected, pre-processed, and transformed using proprietary, patented, advanced RF (radio frequency) plasma pyrolysis technology into materials such as recovered carbon black, syngas, and steel, giving tyres a second life instead of being incinerated or ending up in landfills. Global Enviro Technology is a regional pioneer in this space with its sustainable methodology & zero-waste practices.
“As an insurer, we see first-hand the impact mobility has on our environment,” said Ong Bi Ying, Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Insurance Singapore. “That’s why we’re taking this step, not just for our customers, but also for the wider community of drivers who care about making more sustainable choices.”
Through this initiative, Allianz Insurance Singapore and Global Enviro Technology will track the number of tyres collected and estimate the carbon savings from recycling. This data will help raise awareness and reinforce the collective impact of small changes.
The Recycle My Tyres programme is open to the general public. Interested drivers can visit participating Allianz-authorised workshops to drop off their used tyres and have them recycled at no additional cost.
